Bitcoin climbed toward $72,000 on Thursday, extending a 15 percent advance since Monday as Treasury debt buybacks and a White House push for the Clarity Act lifted crypto equities alongside the token.

Technical levels reclaimed

The move carried Bitcoin above two closely watched on-chain markers. The short-term holder cost basis at $67,138, the average price of coins held for less than 155 days, was cleared, placing recent buyers in collective profit. The 200-day simple moving average at $68,969 was also breached, a level widely used to gauge the longer-term trend. Checkonchain data cited both thresholds as reclaimed during the push past $71,000.

Equity rally broadens

Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, rose 10 percent in pre-market trading after a 13 percent gain on Wednesday. Bullish, parent of CoinDesk, added 5 percent following a 9 percent advance the prior session. MARA Holdings and Coinbase also traded higher in pre-market after strong Wednesday sessions. The equity move tracked Bitcoin’s ascent without a clear divergence in volume or leadership.

The next resistance

The True Market Mean at $75,689 sits above current levels. That metric filters lost coins and long-dormant supply to estimate the active investor cost basis. A sustained break would put the average active holder in unrealized profit, a condition that has historically coincided with broader bullish shifts. Whether the current bid can reach it remains untested.

Zcash upgrade proceeds separately

Zcash’s Tachyon upgrade went live, targeting scaled shielded payments, quantum readiness and a stress test of the network’s funding, security and governance model. The activation is unrelated to the Bitcoin rally and drew no notable price reaction in major markets.
